LAS ANIMAS, Colo. — Marvin A. Appelhans, 80, died November 6, 2012 at the Bent County Memorial Nursing Home in Las Animas, Colo.

He was born February 12, 1932 to Andrew and Katherine (Gerstner) Appelhans in St. Peter.

Mr. Appelhans was a longtime resident of Hasty, Colo.

He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Elmer, Eddie, Richard, Julius "Red", Andy, and Eugene Appelhans.

Survivors include one son, Richard Appelhans of Sharon Springs and Colleen Piatt of Hasty, Colo.; one sister, Olivia Lidwell; four grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.

A come and go memorial luncheon for Mr. Appelhans will be held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at the Hasty Fire House in Hasty, Colo.

Per Mr. Appelhans' request, cremation will take place and there will be no public visitation.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Ark Valley Hospice either directly or through Peacock Funeral Home, 209 4th St., Lamar, Colo. 81052.
