ELKHART — George Edson Atwood, 82, of Elkhart, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.

He was born July 10, 1930, to George Smith and Myrtle Atwood in Jetmore.

On Aug. 28, 1961, he married Ann Long in Mesa, Ariz.

Mr. Atwood served in the Army during the Korean War and was a longtime farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Atwood of Elkhart; a daughter, Carolyn Morris of Hutchinson; two grandchildren, Anna Marie Deal and Evann Grace Deal; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart. Interment will be at the Elkhart Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

Memorials may be given to the donor's choice in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
