MONTEZUMA — Edwin Denton Jacques Jr., 91, who resided at Bethel Home in Montezuma, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Meade District Hospital in Meade.
He was born June 16, 1921, near Ensign, to Edwin Denton Sr. and Maude Butcher Jacques. He graduated from Montezuma High School in 1938.
On April 16, 1939, he married Bessie "Opal" Latta in Meade. They lived on a farm south of Haggard. After retiring from farming, Mr. Jacques worked at Unruh Foster in Montezuma as a mechanic. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
His wife died March 24, 1997. He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Francis Glassco; a brother, Robert Jacques; and a sister, Doris Henderson.
Survivors include a son, Edwin Denton "Kim" Jacques III of Sublette; a granddaughter; three grandsons; a brother, Bill Jacques of Minneola; a sister, Donna Faye Harden of Minneola; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Montezuma United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Montezuma.
