LEOTI — W. Dean Harbin, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at Wichita County Health Center in Leoti.
He was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Mutual, Okla., to Wilbur Mitchell and Nellie Blanche Scates Harbin. He graduated from high school in Mutual in 1950.
Mr. Harbin was a telegrapher, station agent and customer service representative for Missouri-Pacific Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad serving from 1951 and retiring in 1988. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War.
On July 15, 1956, he married Dorothy Beatrice Summers in Leoti. They lived in various places, including Modoc, before retiring in 1988 and returning to Leoti. She died May 23, 2000, in Leoti.
Survivors include three children, Michael Dean Harbin of Westminster, Colo., Shelly Joan Graff of Leoti, and Mitchell Ted Harbin of Maryville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Leoti. Military graveside service will be at Leoti Cemetery.
Visitation hours are 5 to 8 p.m. today and 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Leoti, with the family in attendance from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
