Julio Valverde Sierra, 70, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at his home in Garden City.
He was born April 12, 1942, in Mexico, to Jose Maria and Aurelia Sierra Valverde.
A Garden City resident since 1982, he worked in the kill floor department at Monfort and IBP packing plants.
On Feb. 24, 1968, he married Enriqueta Hinijos in Mexico. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Jose Valverde of Dodge City; two daughters, Maria Ruiz and Sofia Garcia, both of Garden City; five brothers, Jose and Pablo Valverde, both of Mexico, Macario Valverde of El Paso, Texas, and Adalberto and Angel Valverde, both of Ft. Morgan, Colo.; five sisters, Carmen, Apolonia, Sotera, Jesus Maria and Ausencia Valverde, all of Mexico; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.
