James P. "Jim" Wilson, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at his home in Garden City.
He was born Sept. 4, 1926, in Franklin, Pa., to Raleigh W. and Mary Ann Shoemaker Wilson.
On Sept. 17, 1957, he married Elma Allen in Miami, Okla.
A Garden City resident since 1965, Mr. Wilson had worked most of his life as a truck driver.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four children, Raleigh Ray Wilson of Salem, Ore., Melvin Wilson and his wife Carolyn of Garden City, Jeffery Wilson of Garden City, and Nancy Wilson of Garden City; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Wilson; two brothers, Roland Grant Wilson and Johnny Wilson; and a sister, Gladys Brown.
Funeral will begin at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City.
