HUGOTON — Gene Campbell, 82, of Hugoton, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Satanta District Hospital in Satanta.He was born Oct. 30, 1930, in Stevens County, to Burgis and Ruby Jennings Campbell.
A lifetime resident of Hugoton, Mr. Campbell was an oil and gas inspector and independent contractor and also farmed. He served nine years in the U.S. Army Reserves.
In 1950, he married Ila Harper in Clayton, N.M. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Jerry Campbell of Emporia, and Kris Campbell of Hugoton; a daughter, Dana Seidle of Centennial, Colo.; a brother, Terry Campbell of Hugoton; a sister, Barbara Walters of Amarillo, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Yvonne Carlise.
Graveside service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. at Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton.
Visitation hours are 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton. Memorials are suggested to Bethel Friends Church, in care of the funeral home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
