The "Best of Show" will be named this weekend in Garden City as canines compete at the Finney County Fairgrounds.
The Garden City Kansas Kennel AKC Dog Show will hold its annual sanctioned American dog show. The show is free to the public. It will be held at the Finney County Fairgrounds Exhibition Building, West Pavilion, Grandstand Meeting Room and Horse Palace. The dog show is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call Ramona Haney at 275-4739.
Other weekend events include:
* Volunteers are needed to help Miles of Smiles Therapeutic Riding Program start its spring session.
New volunteers must attend a training meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at 901 W. Maple St. Lessons will run for six weeks, from March 25 through May 2. They will be held on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Volunteers choose the times and days they wish to attend.
Experience with horses and/or disabilities is not necessary. Volunteers must be 14 years old, or accompanied by an adult.

* The public reception for "Enamel Diversity" art exhibition will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mercer Gallery in the west wing of Garden City Community College's Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building. "Enamel Diversity" opened Monday and runs until March 30. It features works done in enamel and fiber by Wichita artists Linda Gebert, Susan de Wit and Jennifer Walterscheid.
* The Blue Notes variety band will perform Friday at the senior center in Scott City. The dance, open to the public, will begin at 7:30 p.m.
