NEWS: Local agencies, games, shows closed, postponed, canceled

Several area agencies and organizations are closing today due to weather.
The Garden City Recreation Commission Office, Wellness Center & Gymnasium will be closing at 5 p.m. today due to the weather. All programs for today are cancelled, too. The hotline telephone number is 276-1202.
Garden City Community College will close today at 2 p.m. GCCC also will be closed Thursday.
The GCCC men’s and women’s basketball game at Seward County Community College have been rescheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. Monday night.
GCCC’s Thursday performance of “Shotguns for Wedding Bells” has been canceled because of inclement weather. Ticket holders for this date may reschedule for any of the other performances. Remaining presentations are set for Friday, Saturday and March 1 and 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building.
Tickets still are available. Admission is $20 for singles or $35 for couples. Reservations are necessary, and those may be made at 276-9540 or in person at the Pauline Joyce Fine Arts Building office.
Offices of the 25th Judicial District, including Finney, Kearny, Hamilton, Greeley, Wichita and Scott County District Courts will be closed Thursday due to the impending inclement weather. The courts are scheduled to re-open Friday for regular business hours.
The Finney County Museum will be closed Thursday due to the anticipated inclement weather.
The museum will remain open until 5 p.m. Wednesday, and at this time plans call for the museum to resume normal display and office hours on Friday.
The Kansas Department of Transportation also has postponed the open house scheduled for Thursday in Sublette. The event will be rescheduled so that anyone interested in the proposed improvements on U.S. Highway 83 in northern Haskell and southern Finney counties will have the opportunity to review those proposals. A new date for the meeting has not yet been determined.
Several departments at St. Catherine Hospital will be delayed in opening or will closed Thursday. The Cancer Center is closed today and will remain closed through Thursday. The Rehabilitation Department will open at 9 a.m. Thursday, and the Women’s Clinic will be open from 12:30 to 5 p.m. and Medical Records will be closed. Siena Medical Clinic will be closed Thursday, and staff has begun calling patients to reschedule their appointments.
Senior Vice President of St.Catherine Jon Yox said today that “the Department of Public Safety is discouraging travel at this time. We do not want to put our patients and associates in danger.”
The Hospital will remain open with essential personnel. In case of a medical emergency, call 911 or visit the Emergency Department at 401 E. Spruce St.
United Methodist Mexican American Ministries will be closed today due to weather conditions. This includes all medical and dental clinics in Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal and Ulysses. Patient appointments will be rescheduled. The Care Centers in Dodge City, Garden City, Liberal and Ulysses will be closed, as well.
The Garden City Downtown Vision Third Thursday event "Soup Loop," scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed until Feb. 28. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m.
