Firefighters responded early this morning to a fire at Sunflower Electric Power Corp.

According to the Garden City Fire Department logs, firefighters responded to the plant at 12:10 a.m.

Garden City Fire Chief Allen Shelton said the fire was outside in a coal chute. He said when firefighters arrived on scene, very little was still on fire and firefighters extinguished the smoldering material that was left.

Shelton said no reports were available on damage.
