State wrestling schedule changed; Cimarron hoops moved to Saturday

The schedule for today’s opening day of the state high school wrestling tournaments at three different sites has been altered by the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
KSHSAA officials announced Thursday morning that first-round matches will begin at 4 p.m., with Classes 5-6A at Hartman Arena in Wichita, Class 4A at Salina’s Bicentennial Center and 3-2-1A at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The Parade of Champions will begin at 3:45 p.m. at each site.
Second-round matches will begin immediately following the conclusion of first-round bouts as well as the first round of consolation matches.
Saturday competition will begin at 9 a.m. with the championship semifinals and consolation quarterfinals. At 12:30 p.m., consolation semifinal bouts will be contested. The championship matches, as well as third place and fifth place matches, are set to be held simultaneously, starting at 2:30 p.m.
Cimarron-SW Heights rescheduled
Thursday’s scheduled Southwestern Heights at Cimarron girls and boys basketball games have been postponed due to weather, and will be rescheduled to Saturday.
The Cimarron girls are unbeaten at 19-0 and ranked No. 2 in Class 3A. The Lady Mustangs are 11-8, and 3-2 in their last five games. It will the the first matchup between the teams this season.
Both the Mustangs and Bluejays boys teams will have a rematch on Tuesday when Cimarron hosts the first round of the Class 3A sub-state. Cimarron is 13-6 and Heights is 11-8. The Bluejays won the first matchup this season, 50-45.
The girls are scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m., with the boys game to follow at 5:30 p.m.
