Bridge inspections to slow traffic

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to conduct annual inspections of three bridges over the Arkansas River in Hamilton, Kearny and Gray counties this week.

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to conduct annual inspections of three bridges over the Arkansas River in Hamilton, Kearny and Gray counties this week.

Inspections are scheduled south of Syracuse today, south of Lakin on Wednesday, and at Cimarron on Thursday. The inspections will require closing one lane of the bridge beginning at 9 a.m. each day, which could last up to five hours each day. Traffic will be directed across the bridge using flaggers.
