Free parent/child workshop Tuesday

The Finney County Public Library, located at 605 E. Walnut St., will be hosting its free Parent/Child Workshop beginning Tuesday, and taking place every Tuesday through Feb. 11.

There are two purposes to the workshop. The first is to provide a setting in which parents and their children can work and play together. To facilitate this, the FCPL's meeting rooms will be organized into three different activity areas: The Resource Material Area contains library materials and free handouts. Different aspects of parenting will be featured each week; the Activity Area provides materials and instructions for a simple craft or project for you and your child to do together; the Toy and Game Area contains toys, books, puzzles, blocks, dolls and puppets.

The second purpose of the workshop is to introduce parents and children to specialists and people from the community who will provide you with information on different aspects of parenting and early childhood. The resource specialists will rotate around the room and answer questions while parents and children play.

Community resource specialists will be:

* Tuesday: Overview presented by Judy Cole and Madella Williams

* Jan. 21: Carol Trout --Childhood Behavior Specialist

* Jan. 28: Tara York - Language/Speech Pathologist

* Feb. 4: Bertha Mendoza — Nutritionist

* Feb. 11: Christine Schmidt and May Craig — Movement Specialist

The signup folder for the workshop is located at the circulation desk at the FCPL.
