Three people have been hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday at the intersection of Kansas Highway 156 and Mary Street.
Dighton residents James William Riley, 61, and Margaret Louise Riley, 62, along with Matthew David Weimer, Wichita, 30, were taken to St. Catherine Hospital following the collision, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Weimer was westbound in his Chevy Malibu on K-156, stopped at the stop sign at Mary Street and failed to see the Rileys' Suburban van approaching from the left.
Weimer proceeded into the intersection and the Rileys' vehicle struck his front driver's side. Both vehicles came to rest in the southeast corner of the intersection, according to the KHP.
Margaret Riley was listed in fair condition at St. Catherine this morning, and Weimer was listed in good condition. James Riley has been transferred to Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, according to St. Catherine hospital officials. His condition was not available as of press time.
Weimer was wearing a seat belt and the Rileys were not, according to the KHP.
