A Lakin woman died Sunday as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident.

Linda S. Reimer, 44, was driving a 2000 Chevy van eastbound on U.S. Highway 50, near milepost 49, 4.9 miles east of the Kansas Highway 25/U.S. 50 junction near Lakin, when she came upon a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Craig Brownlee, 25, Syracuse.

Brownlee had slowed or stopped the pickup, preparing to make a left turn onto County Road X when the van struck the truck in the rear bumper area. The van came to a rest facing northeast in the westbound lane of traffic and the pickup came to rest on the westbound lane shoulder facing northwest, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The accident happened at 2 p.m.

Reimer was taken to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City where she died. She was wearing a seat belt.

Jordan Reimer, 9, Lakin, was taken to Kearny County Hospital with injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Caleb Reimer, 5, Lakin, also was taken to Kearny County Hospital. He was wearing a seat belt.

Staff at Kearny County Hospital did confirm two people from the accident were taken to the hospital but would not release any more information.

Bradley Reimer, 10, was taken to St. Catherine Hospital and later flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita where he was reported in critical condition as of this morning. He was wearing a seat belt.

Brownlee, 25, and passengers Jessica Brownlee, 18, and Cole Brownlee, 26, all of Syracuse, were taken to the Kearny County Hospital with possible injuries. Craig Brownlee was wearing a seat belt. Jessica and Cole Brownlee were not, according to the KHP.
