Authorities looking for escapee

Area law enforcement officials are looking for a man who escaped from the Kearny County Jail Monday night.
Mitchell Ebihara Jr., 27, assaulted, battered, then overpowered corrections officer Mirna Saenz, 30, before escaping, according to the Kearny County Sheriff's Office. Ebihara was last seen running north from the Kearny County Jail wearing a white and orange striped jail uniform with "Kearny County Jail" on the back.
Ebihara is 5-foot-4, 118 pounds and has a slight build with brown eyes, short black hair and a light complexion.
He was arrested July 7 by the Kearny County Sheriff's Office on felony charges, including attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and two other felonies. Ebihara was wanted in February in connection with the Jan. 30 shooting of Ricardo Lopez, Lakin, who was shot at close range with a 9 mm handgun and was hospitalized due to extensive injuries, Kearny County law enforcement officials said.
Marcos Reyes-Rodriguez was charged with the same crime and appeared in court in February. Reyes-Rodriguez was arrested in February in Finney County on multiple local criminal charges such as probation violations, criminal damage and transporting an open container. Finney County Sheriff Kevin Bascue said Reyes-Rodriguez's Finney County charges were unrelated to the Jan. 30 shooting. Reyes-Rodriguez is scheduled to begin trial on the attempted first-degree murder charge in January. He pleaded not guilty.
Ebihara remained at large after the shooting, then was arrested in Texas and taken to Finney County in June to face felony charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Officials at the Finney County Sheriff's Office said Ebihara was taken into custody of Kearny County in July after his Finney County charges were no longer pending. He remained in Kearny County custody until his escape Monday. His trial for attempted first-degree murder was set to begin Dec. 8. He pleaded not guilty.
Faenz, the corrections officer Ebihara had assaulted and battered, was treated and released from the Kearny County Hospital.
Ebihara is considered dangerous. Officers from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Finney County Sheriff's Office, Wichita County Sheriff's Office and Kearny County Sheriff's Office conducted searches and road blocks, but as of this morning, Ebihara remained at large.
The last prisoner to escape from the Kearny County Jail did so five years ago.

waste of tax dollars
Well since this pile of garbage escaped and he is up on attempted murder charges anyway,, as soon as they spot him he should be shot on site and rid the world of another violent offender that is a long time burden on taxpayers everywhere.

I just saw the officers myspace page. She does look like the type to get easily persuaded by a nice looking guy. She knew that she was working alone that night. Why would she have risked letting him out knowing that he should have been in his cell that late at night.

I say the guard and him were romantically involved. What was he doing out at 10p.m. He should have been in his cell, Lights out. Instead he roughed her up and ran off into the night. Come on! It was a set up.

large and in charge
it probly wasnt hard for him to run away considering he knew the physically fit sherriffs officers we have couldnt run more than 10 feet to catch him.
