Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident early Sunday morning in Garden City.

Police responded at 3:23 a.m. Sunday to Campbell Street after a car struck a tree.

Daniel Schnetzler, 18, was driving a 1994 Honda Accord eastbound on West Campbell Street when he may have tried to turn south on to Summit Street. Police say the car failed to make the turn and went over the southeast curb into a front yard. The car struck a tree at 1408 W. Campbell St.

Daisy Hernandez, 17, a passenger in the car, hit the windshield, causing a large laceration to her right cheek. A second passenger, Bryce Munyon, 18, was transported to St. Catherine for a sore shoulder and a sprained right ankle.

Police say Schnetzler fled the scene and was later located at his residence. He was arrested on the following allegations: two counts of aggravated battery, driving under the influence, minor in consumption, failure to stop at an accident involving injuries, failure to stop at an accident involving damage to property, failure to give information or render aid, duty upon striking unattended property and duty to report an accident.

Schnetzler currently is in the Finney County jail.
