Tuesday is the deadline for people to file paperwork required to be a candidate for the Garden City Commission on the April 2 city election ballot.
Those interested have until noon Tuesday to fill out forms and pay a $45 filing fee with the city clerk's office.
As of noon Friday, three individuals had filed for city commission, including recently appointed commissioner Melvin Dale, retired school teacher Harold Starr and insurance agency partner Troy Unruh.
The commission consists of five members, all of whom are elected at large. Three commission seats are up for election in odd numbered years. The candidates with the two highest vote totals are elected to four-year terms, while the third highest vote getter is elected to a two-year term.
In addition to Dale, incumbent Commissioner Chris Law announced last week he does intend to seek re-election, though he hadn't filed by early Friday. A third commission seat will be open due to Mayor David Crase's decision not to seek re-election.
