Faith Promise Mission

The 49th annual Faith Promise Mission's Convention is set for Feb. 28 to March 2 at Pleasant Prairie Church of God in rural Satanta.

Services begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1, and at 10:30 a.m. March 2. Additional activities will include a Men's Prayer Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. March 1 and a noon luncheon for everyone. Registration is requested at www.sonsofthunderswks.com. The February meeting is a "Bring Your Sweetheart" event.

Sons Of Thunder is an interdenominational group of Christian men that has one agenda: to "break down the walls that separate men from knowing Jesus Christ."

Program explores adoption

Adoption and the search for birth parents will be explored at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lifetree Café, 3101 Campus Drive.

The program, "Finding The Family I Never Knew," features the filmed stories of a woman who searched out and connected with her birth mother and of a woman who, after 35 years, still searches for the child she gave up for adoption.

"About a third of children adopted by new families have post-adoption contact with their birth families," said Craig Cable, Lifetree's national director. "Reconnecting with birth mothers can be powerful and positive — but that's not always the outcome."

Participants in the Lifetree program will have the opportunity to discuss issues relating to adoption in a safe, caring environment. Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting.
