Christian movement course set to begin

A "Perspectives on the World Christian Movement" course will begin this month in Garden City and Montezuma. The 15-week course will provide an understanding of the Biblical basis of missions, and insight into what God is currently doing here and around the world.

The course will be presented by a combination of live facilitators and simulcast speakers and authors who will guide participants along the journey of God's kingdom from the beginning of the Bible until today.

The course will be offered at Garden Valley Church, 1701 N. Third St., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 12 to April 27 and in Montezuma at Morningside Community Church, 100 N. Apache Drive, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Jan. 13 to April 28.

The cost is $170 per person, but there are scholarships available. The first two sessions are free, so come see for yourself what it's all about.

Healthy eating topic at Lifetree Café

Hints and strategies for healthy eating will be discussed at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lifetree Café, 3101 Campus Drive.

The program, "Dangerous Food: Is Your Supermarket Killing You?" features the filmed story of Joel Salatin, author of several books including "Everything I Want to Do Is Illegal: War Stories From the Local Food Front" and "Holy Cows and Hog Heaven: The Food Buyer's Guide to Farm Friendly Food."

"Between contaminated eggs and genetically engineered food, people are wondering if their supermarkets are killing them," said Lifetree representative Craig Cable.

Special resources will offer help in locating healthy food sources, and participants will discuss the role the government should play in deciding food choices.

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting.
