Zoschke joins staff at Grace Bible

Zoschke joins staff at Grace Bible

Grace Bible Church of Garden City began the new year with an addition to the pastoral staff.

Andrew Zoschke has moved here from Kansas City, Mo., with his wife, Traci, and 18-month-old son, Johnathan, to serve as assistant pastor at the church.

Pastor Andrew trained for ministry at two schools in Kansas City, Mo., graduating from Calvary Bible College in 2010 and then taking some courses at Midwest Baptist Theological Seminary in 2012. Prior to coming here, he served as youth pastor and minister of music at First Baptist Church of Basehor.

He will join his father, John Zoschke, in the ministry at Grace Bible Church. Pastor John will continue to serve as the senior pastor.

Grace Bible Church is located at 2595 Jennie Barker Road. In addition to the church's ministry to the English-speaking congregants, the church has expanded to a ministry to the Karen-speaking refugees from Burma who are now living in Garden City.

Lifetree Café set to explore topic of mental illness

The mysteries and meaning of mental illness will be explored at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lifetree Café, 3101 Campus Drive.

The program, "Mysteries of Mental Illness: One Woman's Struggle to Regain Her Life," features a film of Karen McCracken, author of "Breaking Free From OCD," which describes her life as she experienced mental illness and what proved helpful in her struggle to manage her illness.

"In the reality shows, they show only the negative," said McKracken of OCD. "They don't show it's something you can manage and heal from, that doesn't have to stop your life."

Admission to the 60-minute event is free. Snacks and beverages are available.

Lifetree Café is a place where people gather for conversation about life and faith in a casual coffeehouse-type setting.
