According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, at about 6:35 p.m. Wednesday, Terri Lara was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer northbound on U.S. 83 when she lost control of the vehicle on ice and then collided head-on with a 2002 Chevy Silverado, driven by Douglas C. Peterson, 50, Garden City, who was southbound on U.S. 83. Both vehicles came to rest upright.

According to the KHP, only Agraz was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Peterson was uninjured.
