KDA moves to Manhattan

The Kansas Department of Agriculture has opened an office in Manhattan at 1320 Research Park Drive, Manhattan, KS 66502. An official building dedication and open house will be Sept. 18.

Bayer joins Tastefully Simple

Brooke Bayer, Garden City, has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple, Inc., a national direct sales company featuring easy-to-prepare foods.

Sunflower hires new employees

Chuck Agee and Josh Wondra have joined Sunflower Electric Power Corp.

Agee joined on May 12 as a mechanical supervisor at the Holcomb Station. He will direct and supervise the activities of mechanical maintenance staff, provide technical support and assist in establishing tactical plans and objectives to support the company's power generation needs.

Wondra joined May 14 as a Critical Infrastructure Protection Compliance Administrator in Garden City. He will administer all aspects of physical security and facilitate technology services compliance in accordance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation standards. He will also assist technology services groups in developing policies and procedures that ensure compliance and provide security for the company's electronic service perimeter.

Mitchell Theatres hits 100 screens

A movie company with Garden City ties has recently purchased several properties in the southwest, and reached a 100-screen milestone.

Mitchell Theatres, LLC, announced the purchase of the nine-plex Oasis Cinema theatre in Nogales, Ariz. from the Panousopoulos family. This is the fourth property in the southwest area acquired by Mitchell Theatres. In addition to the Oasis Cinema, they have recently purchased the Starlight Cinema 8 in Los Lunas, N.M., the Storyteller Cinema 7 in Taos, N.M. and the Dreamcatcher Cinema 10 in Espanola, N.M.

Mitchell Theatres is a third generation family-owned businesses involved in farming, commercial real estate and movie theaters. They now own and operate 100 screens in 13 movie complexes in Arizona, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Colorado.
