TODAY, SEPT. 22

Garden City Farmer's Market: Featuring a variety of home-grown produce, home-crafted items and homemade foods, 7 a.m. to noon each Saturday through Sept. 29 in the parking lot of Westlake Hardware, 1210 Fleming St.

Hot Air Balloon Classic: "Party at Sunrise" opening ceremony at 6:45 a.m., followed by a balloon launch at 7 a.m. on the parking lot at the Finney County Fairgrounds in Garden City, and Balloon Glow and Watermelon Feed from 7 to 10 p.m. Final launch will begin at 7 a.m. Sunday.

TUESDAY, SEPT. 25

Musical variety program: Featuring "The Garden City Humdinger Band," 7 p.m. at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge.

THURSDAY, SEPT. 27

Steps to Startup free workshop: For people interested in starting small businesses, 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Student and Community Services Center at Garden City Community College, 801 Campus Drive. To register call 276-9632.

Garden City Community College Endowment Association Scholarship Celebration: Third annual event for scholarship donors by invitation, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Beth Tedrow Student Center at the college, 801 Campus Drive. For more information, call 276-9578.

Musical dance program: Featuring "Redhead Express," 7:30 p.m. in Clifford Hope Auditorium at Horace J. Good Middle School, 1412 N. Garden City Community College Fall Homecoming: To include the traditional coronation ceremony for king and queen at half-time of the Broncbuster game with Fort Scott Community College. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. at Memorial Stadium.

Health Department

Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
