TODAY, NOV. 9

"John's Highway To Health": Benefit for John Leys in the Family Life Center at Bible Christian Church, 1501 E. Mary St., with a meal at 6 p.m. ($15 single, $25 couple) and an auction at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Baker Boot, Family Bookhouse and Bible Christian Church.

7th Annual Veterans Day Patriot Parade: 10 a.m. along Main Street in downtown Garden City, followed by free hot dogs and hamburgers at the American Legion, 405 S. Main St., and the community Veterans Day program.

Fireworks display: Beginning at dusk at the Finney County Fairgrounds.

MONDAY, NOV. 11

Veterans Day Breakfast: 6 to 11 a.m. at the VFW, 1101 W. Mary St. Free meal to all veterans; free-will donation to the general public.

Veterans Day celebration: Honoring all veterans, 3 p.m. in The Chapel at the Village at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The program will feature Administrator Brad Radatz; Resident Services Director Shirley Luck; Sarah Dumler, pianist, and Pastor David Jones of Faith Baptist Church; American Legion Post No. 9; Roy Dixon; B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1404; High Plains Home School Choir; Cindy Smith Dial; Darin Bradstreet; and Frances Gillan. Open to the public.

TUESDAY, NOV. 12

Musical variety program: Featuring "DeAnn Crase & Friends," 7 p.m. at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. For more information, call 275-5036.

Musical program: Featuring musical humorist Dale Gonyea, 7:30 p.m. in Clifford Hope Auditorium at Horace J. Good Middle School, 1412 N. Main St. This is a performance in the Southwest Kansas Live On Stage concert season. Single tickets are $25 for adults, $6 for students. "Pruning Trees and Shrubs Workshop": 4 p.m. at the Finney County Extension Office, 501 S. Ninth St. Free program, but pre-registration is required by calling 272-3670.

FRIDAY, NOV. 15

Musical program: Featuring "Classic Three," 7 p.m. at Homestead Assisted Living, 2414 N. Henderson St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge.

SATURDAY, NOV. 16

Fall Harvest Auction and Soup & Pie Supper: Supper (free-will donation) starts at 5:30 p.m. atGarden City Church of the Brethren, 505 N. Eighth St., with a silent auction during the meal and a live auction at 7 p.m. Offered for sale will be numerous homemade items such as candy, spiced tea, cappuccino, relish, wood carvings, pillow cases and a handmade quilt.

Bierocks sale: St. Dominic youth will sell bierocks from noon to 5 p.m. and after the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Nov. 16 and after the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Nov. 17 in the Parish Center, 615 JC St. Bierocks will be sold for $30 per dozen. Money raised will be used to cover costs for the Youth Mission Trip to Marvell, Ark., to serve the poor.

SUNDAY, NOV. 17

Singles dance: Featuring Bob Walter from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, U.S. Highway 83 and Mary Street. Sponsored by Garden City Singles, the dance is open to the public. People attending must be age 21 or older.

Retirement Open House: For Pastor John and Michele Elder, 3 to 5 p.m. at Garden City Church of the Brethren, 505 N. Eighth St.

Health Department and WIC

Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
