Car show: To benefit the Emmaus House, registration hours are 8 to 11 a.m. today and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Finney County Exhibition Building. The public can attend for free, although donations of nonperishable food items and cash will be accepted. The event will also include a silent auction from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a live auction at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, a brisket dinner at 7 p.m. today, plus a variety of vendors, music and drawings for prizes. Sloppy Joes and Movie Night: Featuring "Unconditional," 6:30 p.m. at Church of the Brethren, 505 N. Eighth St. Free event featuring the movie, sloppy joes, popcorn, candy and beverages (donations will be accepted). For more information, call 276-7391 or visit www.gardencitycob.org.

Boo! At The Zoo: Featuring a trick-or-treat trail with treat stations, food and beverages for sale, pumpkin-carving contest and more. Advance passes are available for $4 per person at El Remedio, Finnup Center, Safari Shoppe and Ward's Garden Center through noon Oct. 19 and at www.folrz.org until Wednesday. Gate passes are $5 per person, with the advanced gate opening at 4 p.m. and general admission gate open from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Members-only skeleton key passes are also available for $10 each through the Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo office. Halloween dance: Featuring "Moonshiners," 8 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, U.S. Highway 83 and Mary Street. Open to the public; costumes welcome.


Singles dance: Featuring "Stevens" from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge, U.S. Highway 83 and Mary Street. Sponsored by Garden City Singles, the dance is open to the public. People attending must be age 21 or older.


Musical variety program: Featuring the music group "Kearny County Road Runners" directed by Curtis Young, 7 p.m. at Garden Valley Retirement Village, 1505 E. Spruce St. The public is encouraged to attend at no charge. For more information, call 275-5036.


Walk & Whoa Ball: Miles of Smiles Therapeutic Riding Program's 15th annual event begins with hors d'oeurves and item viewing at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarion Inn Ballroom, followed by the dance and auction at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 at the door or $15 per person in advance at the Miles of Smiles office, Baker Boot, Crazy House or Garden True Value. Finney County Genealogical Society: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Kansas Room at the Finney County Public Library, 605 E. Walnut St. Visitors welcome.


Toastmasters International: An organizational meeting for establishing a club in Garden City for those wanting to gain confidence about leading and speaking in front of a group, 12:05 to 12:55 p.m. at Classroom B of St. Catherine Hospital. Hours at the Finney County Health Department, 919 Zerr Road, are 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Friday hours are 8 a.m. to noon.
