Duplicate bridge

The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club played a regular game Monday evening with three and a half tables playing a 28-board Howell Movement. Competition was tight again with the top three scoring within a one-point spread. Of 29 games bid and made, 13 were in no-trump and one of three slams succeeded. Dorothy Bartlett and Virginia Enslow were first, Gerry Schultz and Jerry Soldner were second, and Pat Barber and Faye Anderson held third by a half point over May Craig and Roberta Renick.

Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Jon Kempton at 276-2876.

Mary Joseph won high in the three tables of senior center pitch played Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Juanita Crotty. Bob Ellis took third.

Wide Awake 4-H

Wide Awake 4-H Club met Monday at Plymell School. The February parent's meeting was canceled due to weather, so the agenda was combined with March's agenda. Roll call was "What is your favorite cartoon character?"

Devotions were given by Ann Bilberry, mother of Sara Bilberry, and Peyton Wessels. Parliamentary tips were given by Timothy Gillen and Cooper Kleysteuber. Devin Doll gave a current event about the Wichita Shockers. Another current event also was given by Nicholas Overland about the recent time change to Daylight Saving Time and its history.

Joanna Schmeeckle, mother of Brady Schmeeckle, gave a talk about the horse project. Anna Schmeeckle gave a project talk about her painting, and Ryan Wessels gave a talk about his woodworking puzzle.

The club was led in singing "Old McDonald" and "Happy Birthday" to members with February and March birthdays. For recreation, members went outside and played tag.

The members voted on their favorite T-shirt design. Members donated ramen noodles for Emmaus House this month and were asked to bring Jell-O next month.

The next meeting will be April 14 at Plymell School.

Jeanette Taylor won high in the three tables of senior center double pinochle played Monday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Mary Joseph took second place. Third went to Bob Ellis.
