Senior center pitch
Bob Ellis won high in the three tables of senior center pitch played Tuesday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Second place went to Jerry Wallace. Robert Loper took third.
In the three tables played Oct. 23, Leonard Yardley and Juanita Crotty tied for high, second place went to Jerry Wallace, and Phyllis Loper took third.
The Acorn Club met Oct. 21 at the home of Toni Snell. Roll call was answered by telling a Halloween fact.
Dorothy Vannaman gave the program about Martha Washington.
At the Oct. 7 meeting, new officers were installed. They are: Pat Mayo, president; Vannaman, vice president; Sue Swords, secretary; and Kitty Caldwell, treasurer.
The guest speaker was Joy Walker, a volunteer coordinator for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). She spoke about the work CASA does for the neglected, abused and abandoned children. Club members donated party supplies to the CASA program.
Members enjoyed looking at past minutes and reports of Acorn meetings from the club's 105 years.
The next meeting will be Monday.
Senior center pinochle
Carol Bradford won high in the four tables of senior center pinochle played Oct. 31 at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St. Jean Wildeman took second place. DiAnn Bunnell placed third.
The Garden City Duplicate Bridge Club had a regular session Oct. 13, eking out 20 games and two slams.
Scoring had only a moderate spread, with Therin and Diane Woolwine taking first place.
Ron Patrick and Helen Lee were second.
Twenty-eight boards were played Oct. 21, producing 30 games, one slam and one grand slam. Woolwine and Patrick teamed up for first place. Janet Jenkins and Irene Bryant took second place. Virginia Enslow and Dorothy Bartlett placed third.
Regular games begin at 7 p.m. Monday, 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Senior Center of Finney County, 907 N. 10th St., with all bridge players welcome. For partners, call Jon Kempton at 276-2876.
