Ruth Ann Plankenhorn

GARDEN CITY — Ruth Ann Plankenhorn, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Via Christi Regional Medical Center, St. Francis Campus, in Wichita.

She was born Oct. 27, 1932, to Thomas & Evelyn Duvall in Deerfield.

On June 3, 1950, she married Lonnie Lee Plankenhorn in Raton, N.M.

Mrs. Plankenhorn was a greeter and loss prevention employee for at Walmart

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Robert Duvall; two sisters, Asyneth Martin and Leona Huber; and one great-granddaughter, Sara Plankenhorn.

Survivors include four sons, Ronnie Plankenhorn of Pink Hill, N.C., and Gary, Mike and Scott Plankenhorn, all of Garden City; three daughters, Linda Hinde of Garden City, Jennifer Truelove of Salado, Texas, and Lori Parker of Derby; one brother, Bill Paxson of Garden City; four sisters, Verna Chappell of Garden City, Darlene Van Campen of Pauls Valley, Okla., Catherine Knoll of Topeka and Theda Williams of Garden City; 18 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City. Burial will take place at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Memorials are suggested to Finney County Humane Society, in care of Garnand Funeral Home.

Calling hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Garnand Funeral Home

Fond Memeories

Ruthie was always kind to this north GC boy, even when Scott and I were in trouble. She will be missed dearly by all the folks she touched with her kindness and smile .

Lori, Linda, Scott and the entire Plankenhorn family, I am so very sorry for your loss. When we worked at Wal-Mart, she was funny and down to earth. She told it like it was--straight to the point. You are in my prayers.
