GCHS Junior/Senior Prom is Saturday

The Garden City High School Junior/Senior prom will be held Saturday in the GCHS practice gymnasium, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. The theme for this year's gala event is "A Night in St. Tropez" with the dance beginning at 7 p.m.

The decorated gym will be open for public viewing on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Prom pictures will be taken from 5 to 6:45 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Those who come for pictures before 7 p.m. will enter through the weight room door. That door will be locked at 7 p.m. Students will enter through the practice gym for pictures after the dance starts.

For the dance, students will need to enter the school through the training room entrance on the north side of the school. Students must have their ticket with them to be allowed into the event.

Parents, family members and friends may view the Grand Promenade as each couple arrives in the main gymnasium. Viewers are asked to enter through the north student entrance, go upstairs and enter the gymnasium, as is done for basketball games. A $1 per person donation will be accepted at the door.

Visitors are asked not to move from their place unless they are leaving. Visitors may sit in the gymnasium, beginning at 7 p.m. The Buffalo Broadcasting System, cable channel 21, will also be televising the promenade.

Parents who would like to donate snacks or bottled drinks for the event may bring those items to the school Friday evening or from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. For more information contact Anna Silva, 290-5086 or by e-mail at asilva@gckschools.com.2:15 p.m. There will be a table set up by the main walk-in gate of the zoo. The race will start at 2:30 p.m. For more information, contact Tracy Johnson, nutrition services director, at 805-7080 or by e-mail at trjohnson@gckschools.com.
