Girls: Syracuse, Cimarron, Moscow earn blowouts

Syracuse 46, Deerfield 17

At Deerfield, Sydney Brown scored 13 points to lead the Syracuse Lady Bulldogs to a win over the Deerfield Lady Spartans, 46-17.

After taking a large lead in the first quarter, the Bulldogs relied on their ability to make free throws to solidify the win for themselves.

The Spartans made only one of their four free throws throughout the course of the game. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs hit 8-of-11 free throws.

Cimarron 73, Sublette 26

At Cimarron, Ashtynn Burns scored 17 points to lead the Cimarron Lady Bluejays to a solid victory over the Sublette Lady Larks, 73-26.

In a one-sided game in favor of the Bluejays, the Larks failed to score more than nine points in any quarter. By halftime, the score was 38-10 in favor of the Bluejays, who had no intention of slowing down. The Bluejays returned from the half to score 21 points in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth.

Satanta 53, Spearville 50

At Satanta, Valerie Caro scored 20 points to help the Satanta Lady Indians edge the Spearville Lady Lancers, 53-50.

The Indians were down by one, 14-13, after the first quater and then by four with the Lancers leading 28-24 going into the half. The Indians managed to climb back to the top after the Lancers only scored six points in the third quarter, while the Indians were able to score 15. The Lancers still fell despite being able to even the score in the fourth quarter.

At Moscow, Kelsi Mueller scored 17 points to help the Moscow Lady Wildcats defeat the Keyes Lady Pirates, 57-35.

The Wildcats began the game with a well-played first half, outscoring the Pirates 28, while the second quarter was the biggest difference at 23-4. Kelsi Mueller scored 10 of her 17 points in the second quarter to lead the way.

At Leoti, Liz Heath and Leslie Speer scored a total of 17 points to lead the Dighton Lady Hornets to a win over the Wichita County Lady Indians, 50-17.

The Hornets started off quite well with 17 points in the first quarter and 16 in the second.

They cruised from there for the 33-point victory.

At Springfield, Colo., Jenna Black put up 14 points to lead the Stanton Co. Lady Trojans to victory over the Springfield Lady Longhorns, 39-37.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Trojans found themselves only two points behind the Longhorns as they went into the half with the scoreboard showing 16-14 after failing to score in the first quarter. They inched closer in the third quarter as they scored 13 points to the Longhorn's 12 to come within one point of a tied game.

In the fourth, the Trojans completed the comeback by outscoring the Longhorns by three points.

Goodland 66, Scott City 33

At Goodland, Kate-Lynn King scored 15 points to lead the Goodland Cowgirls to a solid victory over the Scott City Lady Beavers, 66-33.

What started as a hopeful game for Scott City, became a runaway game for the Cowgirls. While both teams did most of their scoring in the first half of the game, the Cowgirls were able to keep on scoring with 16 points in the third and 10 in the fourth. The Beavers were led by Bailey Nickel, who scored 21 points, with 16 of those points coming in the first half.

Elkhart 42, Turpin, Okla. 31

At Elkhart, Kacee Hoskinson and Shaylee Addington each scored eights points to help the Elkhart Lady Wildcats defeat the Turpin Lady Cards, 42-31.

Success came to the Wildcats after a balanced outburst in the first quarter in which five of the team's players scored for a total of 16 points. The Cards came back in the second to score the same amount as the Wildcats. Also attributing to the Cards' loss was the fact that they only made four of their 18 attempted free throws.
