Officials probing Leoti teen's death

Published 6/24/2009 in Local News : Police

The Wichita County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a Leoti teenager, said Wichita County Sheriff Randy Keeton.

Nicholas Lee Tankersley, 18, a recent graduate of Wichita County High School, died Friday in Leoti.

Keeton declined to comment on Tankersley's manner of death or other details of the investigation, but said that there is no suspicion of criminal activity. Keeton said the sheriff's office would release more information as it becomes available.

Officials probing Leoti teen's death

My children and I were questioned about this in a Garden City business today. We had not read this article and now wish we had not. No information needs to be released. The family that loved him does not deserve this.

Officials Probing Leoti Teen's Death

I can't believe you published this article in the manner in which you did. To insinuate that there is some kind of investigation is extremely distasteful and insensitive. You should be writing an article celebrating his life and his achievements. Instead, you try to create a cloud of darkness around his death to stimulate readers. The investigating officer should have handled this in a different manner as well and not commented at all. Shame on you both!
