ULYSSES — Richard Martin Long, 75, of Ulysses, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at The Oxford Grand in Wichita.

ULYSSES — Richard Martin Long, 75, of Ulysses, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at The Oxford Grand in Wichita.

He was born May 20, 1938, to Martin M. and Rosetta (Richardson) Long in Liberal.

He married Verna Schoonover on June 23, 1956, in Syracuse. They moved to rural Grant County, where they farmed since 1960.

Survivors include his wife, of Wichita; two sons, Martin E. Long of Ulysses, Michael T. Long of Ulysses; one daughter, Jennifer Feldt of Wichita; one sister, Joyce Cain of Denver; six grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Rivercross Hospice of Wichita, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
