Colleen Maria Meng, 88, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Colleen Maria Meng, 88, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born July 11, 1925, in Preston, Lancashire, England, to George A. and Isabella Funnel Taylor. She had been a resident of Garden City since 1946 and was a homemaker.

She was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City.

On Jan. 15, 1945, she married Ellis H. Meng in Preston, England. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Kenny Meng and wife Connie of Ingalls, and Nick Meng and wife Denise of Cimarron; five daughters, Donna Hacker and husband Charles of Chandler, Ariz., Pat Smith and husband Ron of Garden City, Cathy Frack and husband Brent of Wichita, Jeanette Rumpf and husband Fred of Garden City; and Connie Beasley and husband Dale of Guymon, Okla.; and 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Daniel Ellis Meng, and a sister, Kathleen Taylor.

Vigil and rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Garden City.

The funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Dominic Catholic Church.

Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Price & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Memorials can be given to the Colleen Meng Memorial Fund, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.
