SCOTT CITY — Howard Langley Spitzer, 79, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Park Lane nursing home in Scott City.

SCOTT CITY — Howard Langley Spitzer, 79, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Park Lane nursing home in Scott City.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1934, to Isaac Jacob (I.J.) Spitzer and Pearl Estalene Owen in Scott County.

Howard attended Kansas State University, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in 1957. He married Dorothy Jane Lodholz on Aug. 6, 1955, in Kansas City.

He was a farmer and cattle rancher.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Eleanor Strecker of Topeka; a son, Phil Spitzer of Dallas; a sister, Virginia Sharpe of Scott City; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Heckendorn.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Scott City. Burial will be at Scott County Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church of Scott City or Camp Lakeside, in care of Price & Sons Funeral Home, 401 S. Washington St. in Scott City. Condolences may be sent to www.priceandsons.com/.
