Fred August Wachs
SATANTA — Fred August Wachs, 96, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Satanta District Hospital.
He was born July 4, 1917, at Kensington to Otto and Katie Grauerholz Wachs.
He graduated from Agra High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.
He worked at Pioneer Telephone in Satanta and hauled freight for Beaver Express.
He married Marge Baker on Aug. 6, 1950, in Glade. She survives.
Survivors include a son, Calvin Wachs of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Ruth Hammer of Sublette, and Cynthia Irwin of Garden City; a sister, Laura Klein of Plainville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Rex and Ray Wachs; and a great-granddaughter.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Ulysses. Burial will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette.
