Esther Lucero Flores, 52, of Garden City, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

Esther Lucero Flores, 52, of Garden City, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born Oct. 1, 1960, in Clovis, N.M., to Gilbert C. and Pauline Lopez Lucero Sr. She had lived in Garden City since 1970.

In 1990, she married Jose Herrera, Sr. in Garden City.

She worked at Monfort and IBP. Esther enjoyed working in her yard, music, dancing and spending time with her family, especially her sisters and grandchildren.

Survivors include five sons, Jacinto Flores Jr. of Amarillo, Texas, Henry Flores of Washington, D.C., Jimmy Flores of Amarillo, Adam Flores of Garden City, and Jose Herrera Jr. of Garden City; three daughters, JoAnna Flores of Amarillo, Jessica Flores of Amarillo, and Vanessa Herrera of Garden City; her mother, Pauline Lucero of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven brothers, Gilbert Lucero Jr. of El Paso, Texas, Raymond Lucero of Garden City, Frank Lucero of Garden City, Johnny Lucero of Amarillo, Daniel Lucero of Garden City, Martin Lucero of Albuquerque, and Sammy Lucero of Arkansas City; four sisters, Isabel Mondragon, Mary Martinez, Dorothy Rios and Molly Mondragon, all of Garden City; and 23 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; two sisters, Josie Flores and Ruth Madrid; and a granddaughter, Bryonna Flores.

A memorial graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to the Esther Flores memorial fund, in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City. Condolences may be emailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net.
