ELKHART — Maxine (Whisennand) Robebeaux, 74, Levelland, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Levelland.

ELKHART — Maxine (Whisennand) Robebeaux, 74, Levelland, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center in Levelland.

She was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Ajo, Ariz., to Earnest and Alice Schnaufer Whisennand.

She grew up south of Elkhart on her family's farm and graduated from Yarbrough (Okla.) High School. She worked for the Elkhart Schools as a custodian and bus driver.

She married Melvin Strothman in 1960. He preceded her in death. In February 1993, she married Charles Robebeaux. He also preceded her in death.

Survivors include three daughters; Joan Sanders of Levelland, Patricia Woodward of Glendale, Ariz., and Andrea Robertson of Levelland; three brothers; Joe Whisennand, Jon Whisennand and Jack Whisennand, all of Elkhart; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Phyllis Whisennand; and one brother, Jim Whisennand.

Vigil Service will be held 7 p.m. today at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Elkhart. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.

The family requests memorials be given to the Morton County Historical Society Museum, Elkhart, in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
