State unemployment rate stays at 4.8 percent for May

(MCT) — The Kansas Department of Labor reported that May's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.8 percent, unchanged from April and down from 5.6 percent in May 2013.

According to state labor department official, May had the highest number of employed Kansans ever, an estimated 1,427,872, up slightly from May.

In the separate survey of employers, Kansas was virtually flat in the number of non-farm jobs, gaining an estimated 1,300 private sector jobs and losing 1,400 public sector jobs, out of about 1.4 million total.
