DEERFIELD — Lois Joanne Smith, 74, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

DEERFIELD — Lois Joanne Smith, 74, died Friday, July 12, 2013, at Kearny County Hospital in Lakin.

She was born to A.C. and Lois Cantell Austin on Nov. 20, 1938, in Kansas City, Kan.

She married Lorren W. Smith on Oct. 2, 1957, in Topeka. He survives.

Mrs. Smith graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. She and her husband moved to Garden City in 1964 and to Deerfield in 1996.

Survivors also include two daughters, Chris Claar, Deerfield and Tammie Nolde, Lakin; a brother, Jim Austin of Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Susan Coghill, Campobello, S.C.; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial service is at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wesleyan Church in Lakin. Memorials are suggested to Wesleyan Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 508 N. Main, P.O. Box 91, Lakin, KS 67860. Condolences may be e-mailed to garnandfh@sbcglobal.net.
