Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches is coming to Garden City.

According to the Garden City Planning and Community Development Department, the popular sandwich establishment has been in the process of remodeling the western side of the building at 501 E. Kansas Ave., which used to be a Dollar Warehouse.

No information about the new restaurant, including when it will open, was available from Jimmy John's corporate headquarters.

The store, which is roughly 1,400 square feet, will seat 24 and also will have a drive-through window, according to the city.

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches was founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in a converted garage in Charleston, Ill. The company has grown to more than 1,500 corporate and franchised locations in more than 45 states throughout the United States, including one in Dodge City.
