State Rep. Russ Jennings of Lakin has been assigned to the Corrections and Juvenile Justice committee for the 2014 legislative session. He will no longer serve on the Elections and Local Government committee.
"I am honored and pleased to serve in the Kansas House of Representatives," Jennings said. "My new committee assignment fits very well with my prior public service career of over 30 years. I look forward to the work of the upcoming session."
The regular session of the Kansas Legislature begins at 2 p.m. Monday, and is expected to last for 90 days.
Jennings previously served as a law enforcement officer, District Magistrate Judge, director of the Southwest Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Center and Commissioner of the Kansas Juvenile Justice Authority.
