The Kansas Department of Transportation expects work to begin Monday on a project to install a traffic signal and add turning lanes at the intersection of Big Lowe Road and Jones Avenue in Holcomb.
During construction, the intersection of Big Lowe and Jones will be a three-way stop. At times, traffic may be reduced to one lane through the work zone. Drivers entering and exiting the Tyson Foods plant should expect delays. KDOT urges drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down when approaching the work zone and be prepared to stop.
In addition to adding a traffic signal to the intersection, the project calls for adding a right turn lane on northbound Big Lowe Road and a right turn lane on Jones Avenue. KDOT expects work to be completed in January 2013, depending on weather.
Klaver Construction Company, Inc., of Kingman is the primary contractor on this project at a cost of approximately $790,000, according to KDOT.
