JOHNSON CITY — Ilene Herron, 83, Johnson City, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, Johnson City. Herron was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Wichita to James and Bessie (Ewing) Ballinger.

JOHNSON CITY — Ilene Herron, 83, Johnson City, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, Johnson City. Herron was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Wichita to James and Bessie (Ewing) Ballinger.

Herron drove a school bus and helped her husband on the farm.

She attended high school in Manter, where she met Marvin T. Herron. They were married on Aug. 24, 1946, in Garden City. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Curtis Herron; grandson, Jared O'Bryan; brother, Ronnie Ballinger; and sisters, Elsie Hammond and Alice Murray.

Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara Hammond, Goodwell, Okla., Judy O'Bryan, Johnson City, and Linda Hammond, Garden City; a brother, James Ballinger, Tribune; two sisters, Bonnie Jones, Goddard, and Catherine Dillon of Pueblo, Colo.; 11 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, Johnson City. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery, also in Johnson City. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson City. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson City, KS 67855.
