Holcomb's Walck 27th in 5-1A state bowling

Holcomb's Hayley Walck rolled a 554 three-game series on Thursday to finish in tied for 27th place at the Class 5-1A state bowling tournament at North Rock Lanes in Wichita.

Walck, who had qualified the previous week at the regional in Great Bend, had individual games of 170-199-185 to average 184.6.

Kirsten Allan of Buhler was the individual medalist with a 706 series, edging Wichita Carroll's Anna Bohr by two pins.

Augusta won the team title with a total of 2,546 pins for its three games of 861-875-810. Wichita Carroll was runner-up at 2,490 and Buhler third at 2,443. Great Bend placed 6th with a 2,153 total. Great Bend's Miranda Hejny was 20th with a 584 series.

Great Bend's boys, the Western Athletic Conference champions, captured the team title with 2,695 pins. The Panthers' Daniel Herman captured the individual title with a 759 series on games of 270-256-233.

Garden City's boys were to begin the Class 6A state competition today at 2 p.m. The Lady Buffs' Amanda Deihl was bowling in the individual portion of the competition at 9:30 a.m.
