Highway project court records

According to Finney County District Court documents, including the appraisers' report in the matter of condemnation of land for the U.S. Highway 50/400 project, these are the total compensation and measure of damages amounts determined for property.

The state appealed values on 13 tracts of land. Those tracts included: the Knoll family, Jose Acosta, Howard Braun, Andrew Larson, Six M Farms Inc., Brookover Land Enterprises, the Merrill family, Danny L. Novack, Crazy House Inc., Shaw, Miller Enterprises Inc., Rodger Funk Farm Inc. and Tamara K. Halloran. Acosta and Novack have since settled.

According to Kansas Department Transportation Chief Counsel Vicki Johnson, the state has paid $11,267,651.11 to the court already, which will help pay for the land in question, once appeals are settled.

* Tract 7 (Miller Enterprises Inc.), $223,920.

* Tract 11 (Jose L. Acosta and Norma Acosta), $114,929.

* Tract 15 (Howard Braun and Sharon Braun), $244,213.

* Tract 17 (Drainage District No. 1), $4,600.

* Tract 20 (Andrew Larson Sr. and Jean Larson), $615,960.

* Tract 21 (Jose Munoz and Norma Munoz), $85,605.

* Tract 22 (Six M Farms Inc.), $402,706.58.

* Tract 23 (Andrew Larson Jr. and Jean Larson), $56,385.

* Tract 24 (Brookover Land Enterprises), $4,402,910.

* Tract 28 (Thomas Miller and Jacqueline Miller), $203,473.

* Tract 29 (Catherine Merrill and Merrill family), $331,825.32.

* Tract 34 (Danny Novack), $1,363,000.

* Tract 37 (Edward Banning and Alice Banning), $189,465.

* Tract 44 (Brookover Feed Yards Inc.), $665,075.

* Tract 45 (Tamara K. Halloran), $39,500.

* Tract 47 (Crazy House Inc.), $71,775.

* Tract 50 (Shaw & Shaw), $1,609,535.
