SW Heights 59, Satanta 39

At Garden City Community College, Nate Johnsrud scored 14 points to lead the Southwestern Heights Mustangs to a win over the Satanta Indians, 59-39.

The Indians' loss came after they allowed the Mustangs to outscore them in the second quarter and then just scored three points in the fourth quarter. The Mustangs' Jorge De La Torre contributed nine of his 13 points in a 20-point second quarter.

With their win, the Mustangs placed third.

Elkhart 65, Lakin 55

At GCCC, Alex Gomez scored 27 points to lead the Elkhart Wildcats to victory over the Lakin Broncs, 65-55. The win earned the Wildcats the fifth-place spot for the tournament.

After trailing the Broncs by three points going into halftime, the Wildcats used the third quarter to work their way ahead of the Broncs. Of the 23 points scored in the third quarter, Gomez scored 14, 12 of those points being from 3-pointers. The Wildcats outscored Lakin 40-27 in the second half.

SW Heights 47, Syracuse 33

At GCCC, Jackie Loya scored 19 points to help the Southwestern Heights Lady Mustangs beat the Syracuse Lady Bulldogs, 47-33. Their effort was good enough to earn them third place.

The Mustangs were only four points ahead of the Bulldogs at the end of the first quarter. They began to pull ahead of the Lady Bulldogs after a series of four 3-point goals made in the second quarter. The resulting 14 points was good enough for the Mustangs to comfortably win the game in the second half.

Lakin 74, Satanta 47

At GCCC, Mariah Watkins scored 19 points to lead the Lakin Lady Broncs to victory over the Satanta Lady Indians, 74-47. The win placed the Lady Broncs fifth for the tournament.

With offense in mind, Lakin began the game leading by nine points at halftime, then hit their stride in the third and fourth quarters, to end the game up by 27 points. All but one of the 12 Lady Broncs scored at least two points. Meanwhile, the short-staffed Lady Indians only had six of their nine players put points on the board, led by Vanessa Caro's 17 and Valerie Caro's 13.
