A Liberal High School social studies teacher has been arrested for sexual exploitation of a child and other charges.

Drake Marshall Foster, 24, was arrested Tuesday, according to a joint statement released by Liberal Police Chief Al Sill and Seward County Attorney Don Scott.

In addition to sexual exploitation of a child, Foster was charged with electronic solicitation, indecent solicitation of a child and promoting obscenity.

Bond was set at $50,000 and Foster's next court appearance was set for Dec. 3.

Paul Larkin, deputy superintendent of the Liberal school system, said that Foster, who had taught social studies, geography and history as well as coached the boys soccer team, had resigned his position.

Larkin said the school district was "in cooperation with the authorities and their investigation" and as a consequence was "not at liberty to discuss the case beyond the resignation."

Foster, according to his Facebook page and Twitter account, moved to Liberal with his wife in June and they began teaching in the Liberal schools in August. It was his first teaching job since graduating from Emporia State University last spring with a Bachelor of Science degree in education.

Foster is from Mulvane. While at Emporia State he was the recruiting chairman at his fraternity and a member of the school's Ambassadors, a group that gave tours and helped recruit students to the university. He also worked as a resident assistant in a dormitory.
