Four Garden City High School cross country runners have been named academic all-state performers.

Three of the four were part of the Lady Buffaloes' Class 6A runner-up team. That group included Alex Miller, Kayla Doll and Chelsea Jackson. All three are juniors at GCHS, and Miller was the individual runner-up at the meet in late October at Lawrence.

Jacob Thomas, the top boys performer for the Buffs, also received all-state recognition.

To be eligible, athletes must have placed in the top 30 at the state meet and have a current 3.7 cumulative grade point average.

The recognition came from the Kansas Cross Country Coaches Association, which also recognized GCHS coach Krista Linenberger as its 2012 Class 6A girls coach of the year.
