Lady Busters move on to Region VI quarters

Shauqunna Collins had a triple-double with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists on Saturday afternoon at the Perryman Athletic Complex to lead the Garden City Community College Lady Broncbusters to a 72-69 win over Labette in the first round of the Region VI playoffs.

Collins finished 10-of-12 shooting as she sliced through the Lady Cardinals' defense for the game-high point total. Jasmine Christmas chipped in 13 points, as well. Sandra Davis had eight points and nine boards.

With the win, the Lady Busters move on to the quarterfinals of the 16-team tournament on Wednesday at Kock Arena in Wichita, where they will take on the Dodge City Lady Conquistadors, who beat Coffeyville, 73-67, on Saturday.

Labette was led by Crash Dougles, Brittany Odom and Kasey Wellon, who had 15, 15 and 13 points, respectively, as the Lady Cardinals' season came to an end.
